It only makes sense that to question whether or not one can say that they are an artist. I consider myself an artist, but I have friends who refer to what I do as playing with my paints, etc. LOL Truthfully, I question the validity of what I do, but the answer I get back mentally is a resounding "YES." You're so right, we do live and approach our lives differently. I see sunrises and sunsets as performance art. Mother Nature is one amazing set director! I will keep playing as long as I can and try out as many different mediums as I can. Thank you so much for your comment! It helps when I know other artists see what I see, maybe in a different way, but they do see.Rutheemachttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11698672689460788892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1384162150377922092.post-27384608852388689542012-02-13T01:12:34.708+00:002012-02-13T01:12:34.708+00:00Wow. I really love this post, because I think this...Wow. I really love this post, because I think this is something that goes through everyone's head at some point. By questioning yourself, though, you are exploring yourself as an artist. Have you heard that if you think you're crazy, you're not, because a crazy person doesn't question their sanity? I think it's the same...if you're an artist, you question yourself, and continue to do so. I hope this makes sense.

I see myself as an artist because of how I live my life and approach my daily life. I see things in a different way. And I want to learn and explore. I'm not an artist because other people say I am -- I am an artist because I choose to explore the world and express what I've discovered in an artistic way. In paint or words; it doesn't matter.

Keep playing. Experiment with those acrylics. I've used them for years and have done many paintings, but they still teach me something new every time.Samiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14113397320579488348noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1384162150377922092.post-29340869514222581942012-02-05T21:37:34.819+00:002012-02-05T21:37:34.819+00:00It is always interesting to hear about the kind of...It is always interesting to hear about the kind of art that each artist is involved with. I'm a painter of mostly tiny little leafy pictures, and that is what I spend my time doing when I'm not in the world of REAL work! My work is seasonal in a different way from yours, because it's not painted for any occasion, but it reflects what's going on outdoors during the year.
Happy stamping!Redpainthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09285665676332764953noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1384162150377922092.post-84752724729902521722012-01-29T23:21:45.415+00:002012-01-29T23:21:45.415+00:00Cat, thank you so much for your comment. To find the time, I opted to leave the telly off and spend quality time reading about art, making art and researching techniques that appeal to me. You can and will be able to do this if you really want to and when your inner muse whispers to you "now is the time." You never know what might come from doing so. Also, try doing a web search for "calls for submissions, artists" and see if anything comes up that might interest you. I recommend looking at a magazine or web sites info on sending in submissions to see what the specifications, subject matter, etc. might be. No point submitting if your work doesn't fit what the editors are looking for or send in the wrong format. Somerset Studio & its sister magazines, is always looking for submissions so have a look at the web site and read about the various challenges currently running and the due dates. Hope this info inspires you to take a chance and give this a try. :)Rutheemachttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11698672689460788892noreply@blogger.com
